Friday Dance Lessons, Episode 2: Oh, I Think I Can Dance

Here’s a little Christmas/Hanukkah/InsertOtherDecemberHoliday YouTube special, once again broadcasting live from my kitchen. You may notice, as Matt did, that I hold a fairly intense stare throughout this video. That is because dancing is not funny when you’re white.

In this video, you will learn how to win a dance off and get step-by-step instructions for the “Rowin’ Down the Muddy River” dance and the now world-renowned “Butter the Toast” dance. Until now, these moves have only been showcased at Lous Blues in Indialantic, FL, Tarpon Bend and Dicey O’Rileys in Fort Lauderdale, FL and every bar in eastern Europe. Now though, thanks to Al Gore, they can be viewed from the privacy of your home computer. Or perhaps a laptop in the airport. Your choice.

  1. I'm pretty sure this will never EVER get old. So thank you. The most important thing is you have to always come back home. You can go nuts, do crazy moves – but you always have to come back to your “center” to refuel before busting out the next move – I'm a big fan of the standard white guy “thumbs” move – pointing my thumbs in each direction and even going so far as to watch where my thumbs are going, lol.

More on this in a follow up to your dance off – Oh, it's on Jen!

  2. Jenny says:

My pleasure! Base is where you feel safe. Touch up and then go back to the run. These are all great tips for beginning white folk dancers.

    Please, please make your rebuttal!!

  3. Marcos says:

    HA!! … hilarious.

    BTW, I speak Webdings. :P

  4. Jenny says:

Hahah… ruh roh… I didn't know there were any other native speakers.

  5. Sara says:

Oh god. This made my week.
