After Britney's breakdown and Christina going "mature", there was a void in pop for the unpredictable. Cue Lady Gaga's entrance. I think that's when I really fell in love - when I found out that behind all the autotuned tunes on her album she was actually pretty damn talented, and has a "real" good voice.
